Where to Go in Europe in November

Amsterdam in November

November is one of the best times of the year to travel to Europe. The crowds are gone, the weather is still (mostly) mild, and prices for hotels and flights plummet. This month is the perfect sweet spot between summer vacation and the crowds ramping back up for Europe’s famous Christmas markets. I rarely travel to Europe in the summer, and instead have gone to Europe in November numerous times.

Whether you’re looking to extend summer by finding European destinations that are still warm in November, or just want to enjoy popular cities without long lines, these are the best places to go in Europe in November.

Important Tips For Planning a Europe Trip in November

  • In many beach towns, resorts and restaurants close for the season in November, so check that enough will be open near where you’re staying.
  • The EU falls back to its standard time on the last Sunday in October, which means days will be shorter. In Paris in November, for example, the sun sets just after 5:00 pm.
  • There are many festivals and holidays throughout Europe in November, including All Saint’s Day, St. Martin’s Day, and Remembrance Day.
  • November is too early for the ski season, and too late for hiking (most higher elevations have snow by this month)
