Carl Friedrik Carry On Review: Quiet Luxury in a Suitcase

Carl Friedrik Carry On Suitcase

If you watch Succession or the White Lotus, Carl Friedrik’s Carry-On suitcase will seem familiar to you—it’s the bag of choice for many of the Roys and for season two hotel manager Valentina. This sleek carry-on definitely whispers “quiet luxury” with its sleek design and high-end features. I tested out the carry-on suitcase to find out if it’s worth the money.

Carl Friedrik Carry On Review

Carl Friedrik Carry On Suitcase Details

With its clean lines and sharp angles, Carl Friedrik’s Carry-On suitcase simply looks expensive. The signature gunmetal gray polycarbonate shell is offset by rich, vegetable-tanned Italian leather accents in warm black, cognac, or chocolate.

The carry-on is more than just good looks. The durable and lightweight polycarbonate shell is paired with a sturdy rectangular aluminum frame that adds structural integrity without unnecessary bulk. Exposed rivets along the edges not only enhance durability but also lend an industrial-cool aesthetic.

I’ve used the Carry-On for both weekend getaways and week-long trips and have been very impressed. For starters, the storage capacity is next-level. Thanks to the boxy shape and angular corners, every inch of space is maximized, so I was able to fit more in this suitcase than in similarly sized carry-ons. The compression straps and removable compression pad helped even more with my overpacking tendencies.

Having caught way too many clothes in the zipper of my suitcases while overstuffing my bag, I appreciated the unique snap closures on this suitcase. It’s way faster to open and close the suitcase, and combined with the built-in TSA-approved locks, it feels secure.

My biggest complaint with Carl Friedrik’s Carry-On is the weight. At 9.9 lbs, this bag is heavier than most carry-ons even before you start packing.

Can’t decide between Carl Friedrik’s Carry On vs Carry On X? Here’s how the two suitcases compare. The main difference is that the Carry On X is expandable, while the Carry On is not. Also, the Carry On X has an integrated front pocket, which is nice for keeping essentials easily accessible.

Price & Where to Buy

I bought the Carry-On directly from Carl Friedrik’s website, where it costs $545. I’ve also seen the suitcase go on sale at Bloomingdale’s, so it’s worth checking there as well.
