Milan has no shortage of luxury hotels, but the freshly refurbished Tivoli President Milano stands out even in a city where the bar is impossibly high, and the dress code is even higher. The property feels truly Italian rather than generically luxurious, with design details and local touches that feel on-brand for the fashion capital of the world.
With exceptionally comfortable rooms, flawless soundproofing, and very welcome air conditioning in the summer heat, it’s the perfect place to practice the Italian art of dolce far niente (the sweetness of doing nothing). And, with Duomo views from some of the rooms, you won’t feel like you’re wasting a minute of your trip when you take time to relax on your private balcony with an espresso in the morning.
Location

The location is unbeatable. It’s less than a 10-minute walk from the Duomo and an easy stroll to Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and La Scala Theatre. There are several metro lines nearby if you want to explore further afield, and some of Milan’s best shops and restaurants are within walking distance.
The hotel itself is such a peaceful, luxurious oasis, and the central location made it easy to pop back whenever I needed a break from the heat, a place to drop shopping bags, or simply somewhere with fast WiFi to plan the rest of my day.
Rooms

The hotel has 239 rooms, including 60 suites with balconies. I stayed in a suite that, at 506 square feet, was unbelievably spacious for the heart of Milan. It featured a wrap-around private terrace accessible from both the living room and bedroom, with incredible views of the square below, the Duomo, and the city skyline. A complimentary minibar, a separate living room with a comfortable sofa, and a large table rounded out the space.
The ensuite bathroom was beautiful, with a dark green marble double vanity, a large walk-in shower with a rainfall showerhead, and Culti Milano toiletries. Plush robes, soft slippers, and a Ghd hair dryer added to the luxury vibe. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, and a pillow menu made it easy to customize the perfect night’s sleep.
Despite overlooking a busy street, the soundproofing was flawless, and the suite remained remarkably quiet throughout the day and night, so I managed to sleep well despite my jet lag.
Dining

The breakfast buffet is extensive, with fresh juices, pastries, cheeses, cold cuts, fruit, and made-to-order hot dishes. There was even a dedicated table each morning spotlighting seasonal ingredients that changed monthly (when I visited, the focus was carrots, featuring carrot juice, carrot pastries, and fresh vegetable displays.)
The Lobby Bar Bistrot is a destination in its own right, drawing in locals alongside guests for authentic Italian flavors with a creative twist, accompanied by live piano music that sets the right mood.

For an “only in Milan” experience, book a table at Verzèe, the hotel’s restaurant set in a bright room with stunning Duomo views. Open for lunch and dinner, it serves traditional Milanese dishes blended with international influences.
Fitness & Wellness

The fitness center is spacious and well-equipped with treadmills, bikes, weights, and more. Although the wellness center wasn’t yet open during my stay (it opens later this summer), I did get to preview the Starpool Longevity Wellness experience, which will be the unique centerpiece. The Zerobody Dry Float beds work like a heated or cooled waterbed, wrapping around your body with either warm or cold water to create the sensation of floating, without getting wet or changing your clothes. Think of it as the feeling of relaxing in a warm pool or being reinvigorated with a cold plunge.

The experience is designed to combat jet lag through deep relaxation, and it’s fully customizable. You can adjust the water temperature, change the bed lighting, choose your music, or follow a guided meditation while you float. It’s also quicker than a traditional massage, making it ideal for busy travelers who want to reset without losing half a day to a spa itinerary.
