Open the door to your room at Stamford Plaza Brisbane, WorldHotels Elite Collection, drop your bags, and prepare for your jaw to follow when you see the view. The Brisbane River unfurls in front of you, framed by floor-to-ceiling windows. Every one of the hotel’s rooms faces the water, so you’re guaranteed a stunning panorama.
Below, the Brisbane Riverwalk curves past the City Botanic Gardens and through the CBD neighborhood, packed with coffee shops, restaurants, and boutiques on every corner. This is one of those rare urban hotels where you actually feel like you’re on vacation, with peaceful corners of greenery alongside all the conveniences you could want.
Location

With a central location, the Stamford Plaza is the best basecamp for exploring Brisbane. A ferry terminal, train station, and plenty of bus stops are within a few blocks. If you like to walk everywhere—and prefer your errands with a view—Stamford Plaza nails it. The ferry, in particular, is a standout: for just 50 cents, you get one of the most scenic commutes in any city.

On foot, you’re close to Story Bridge, the Botanic Gardens, Queen Street Mall, and The Star Grand Casino (check out the free Sky Deck here for incredible sunset views). A river path runs directly past the hotel, perfect for morning runs or sunset walks, and Riverlife Adventure Center nearby rents bikes if you want to cycle for miles along the water.
Within five minutes, you’ll find no shortage of cafés for your flat white fix, plus plenty of spots for a casual meal, a drink, or some souvenir shopping. And when the city feels a bit too loud, the Botanic Gardens are right next door, offering a quiet spot to sunbathe or people-watch.
Rooms

Stamford Plaza is the only hotel in Brisbane where a river view is guaranteed. Every one of the 252 rooms and suites room faces the water. We stayed in the Story Bridge Suite, and yes, it lives up to the name. Three oversized picture windows frame the river, Story Bridge, the Botanic Gardens, and the Kangaroo Point Cliffs. It’s the kind of view that makes you pause mid-unpacking and just stand there for a moment. Order room service, pour a drink, and watch the city move beneath you.

The suite itself feels more like an apartment than a hotel room, with a separate living area, work desk, dressing room, and a marble bathroom complete with soaking tub, walk-in shower, and even a television (just in case bathing gets boring).
The aesthetic leans classic luxury: plush carpet, heavy blackout drapes, and a king-size bed dressed in soft, neutral tones.
Dining

Stamford Plaza offers three distinct dining options to enjoy without leaving the property.
Kabuki Teppanyaki brings a bit of theatre to dinner, with chefs cooking tableside and keeping things lively while delivering excellent Japanese cuisine. You can go all-in on the teppanyaki experience or order à la carte—either way, reservations are a good idea.
The Pav Bar offers a relaxing riverside experience and is where you’ll find breakfast every morning. Load up your plate at the sumptuous buffet (don’t miss the made-to-order omelet station) and head out to one of the shaded tables overlooking the water for the most peaceful start to your day. Later on, it’s a popular spot for drinks or a casual meal, especially as the sun sets.
Then there’s La Boca Bar and Grill, serving Argentinian dishes from a wood-fired parrilla along with an enviable wine list.
And for a classic Brisbane tradition, don’t miss high tea at the hotel. Options range from the Spirit of Queensland High Tea (once served to Queen Elizabeth II) to a chocolate-forward version that will satisfy even a sweet tooth the size of Australia.
Amenities

The outdoor heated pool and hot tub overlook the river and Story Bridge, with sunbeds surrounding the water, lending a resort feel to the downtown hotel. There’s also a 24/7 fitness centre that’s well-stocked with cardio and weight machines—ideal if you want to balance out the steak, high tea, or both.
