There’s nothing better than spending the whole day outside during a New England summer. But after a day spent in the great outdoors, I want to collapse on a king-size bed, rinse off under a rainfall shower, and relax by the campfire, not wrestle with tent poles in the dark.
Fortunately, several luxury glamping accommodations have sprung up around New England in recent years, offering five-star comfort in the wild. From Acadia to Cape Cod, these are our favorite luxury glamping spots.

Under Canvas Acadia: Surry, Maine
Under Canvas has built a strong national reputation for its safari-style tent resorts near America’s most beloved national parks, and the Acadia location is one of its best. The property hugs over 1,200 feet of Patten Bay coastline, adding to the secluded feel. You can book guided adventures directly through Under Canvas, including a private bioluminescent kayak tour.
Tents are outfitted with plush king-size beds, wood-burning stoves, private decks, and ensuite bathrooms with showers and flushing toilets. Families looking for a bit of privacy will appreciate the Kids Tent option, a smaller tent with two twin-size beds that’s positioned directly adjacent to a standard tent for the parents.
Terramor Outdoor Resort: Bar Harbor, Maine
If you’ve already read our full Terramor review, you know this is one of the best glamping properties in the country. For those just discovering it: Terramor is an eco-friendly resort that has a prime location near Acadia National Park.
Almost all of the spacious tents have ensuite bathrooms (Alder tents have private, keyed bathrooms located in Terramor’s shared bathhouse). We recommend the Hemlock Tents, which feature private outdoor showers. All tents have their own fire rings, where you can roast marshmallows, and outdoor porches with comfortable seating.
Terramor is a great choice for groups or families, as they have tents that can sleep up to five people comfortably.
AutoCamp Cape Cod: Falmouth, Massachusetts
AutoCamp has taken the vintage Airstream trailer and made it luxurious, with glamping locations around the country. The relatively new Cape Cod property brings the retro-luxe concept to the beach. Set in a quiet, forested patch of land near Falmouth, AutoCamp offers direct access to the famous Shining Sea Bikeway. The location puts you five minutes from local beaches and downtown Falmouth, with all of Cape Cod’s dining, whale watching, and ferry access to Martha’s Vineyard within easy reach.
The resort offers 31-foot Airstreams decked out in mid-century modern design, with bedside panoramic windows, walk-in rain showers, and private patios with fire pits. There’s also a modern clubhouse with a lounge and general store for necessities.
Sandy Pines Campground: Kennebunkport, Maine
Want to sleep in an A-frame tent, a tiny house, a glass-walled cottage, or a Conestoga Wagon? Sandy Pines Campground has a wide variety of unique accommodation types to choose from for your glamping experience.
All benefit from Sandy Pine’s beautiful location, which is bordered by a salt marsh in a secluded beach forest, minutes from Goose Rocks Beach and the charming shops of Dock Square in Kennebunkport. On-site amenities include a heated saltwater pool, kayak and paddleboard rentals, lawn games, and bike rentals.
Backstage at The Verb Hotel: Boston, Massachusetts
Backstage at The Verb is not your typical nature retreat—it’s a fleet of 10 custom-built, stationary luxury trailers tucked between a rock-and-roll mid-century hotel and Fenway Park in the heart of Boston.
Inside, you’ll find radiant heated floors, pillow-top mattresses, a Bose sound system, and a rainfall shower. The Verb’s famous vinyl library is yours to raid and play on your trailer’s Angels Horn record player. Access to the hotel’s heated outdoor pool, daily breakfast, and Nitro-brewed coffee are all included in the price.
Huttopia Berkshires: Albany, New Hampshire
Huttopia began as a French brand, and it brought a distinctly European sensibility to the White Mountains when it opened its first American location here in 2017. The result is a resort that feels more sophisticated than most American campgrounds, with fresh espresso, pastries made on-site every morning, a bilingual staff, authentic crepes, and of course, good wine.
Accommodations range from the simple two-person Bonaventure canvas tent to the more luxurious Trappeur, which comes with its own private bathroom, shower, a small kitchen, and electricity, sleeping up to five guests. Wooden chalets accommodate larger groups. The resort sits on the banks of Iona Lake, offering canoeing and paddleboarding, plus a heated pool, and is located just 10 minutes from North Conway and a short drive from some of the best hiking in New England.
When to Go Glamping in New England
The best times to go glamping in New England are late June through August for warm weather, coastal access, and long days, and late September through mid-October for fall foliage. The foliage window is particularly magical and books up far in advance, especially in Vermont, the White Mountains, and the Berkshires.
However, be aware that some of the glamping options can get quite chilly at night in New England in the fall, especially towards the end of the season.
